How to (un)plan one perfect day

Hello my friends,

Over the past month I have been reuniting with my old friend Rest.  And it feels so good.

We lost touch 3 years ago when I launched this Digital Wellbeing endeavor.  Turns out being an entrepreneur on top of an already full-time job is a LOT of work. It is SO easy to get caught up in the trance of scarcity, fear and grind when the stakes feel high.

But Rest swooped in and said, “This enterprise is a labor of love and a passion project. You can go at your own pace.”

So, my plan for the rest of 2020 is to chill out, offer a few little events, and recharge myself to launch some really cool stuff in 2021 with energy and passion.

Until then, I will keep coming to your inbox weekly because I love writing these emails.  They keep my mind and heart in this work I truly love and give me a chance to connect with all of you.

I heard a news story the other day about people skipping vacations this summer since there’s nowhere to go.  I implore you: if you have the privilege of paid time off, take it!  And if not, make the most of your unpaid days off.

Last weekend, inspired by my brilliant friend Doreen, my partner and I took a full day off and it was divine.

Here's what to do:

  1. Put a date in the calendar so you can plan ahead and clear the decks for a day of no chores, no work, and no agenda.

  2. When the day comes, wake up and do whatever you feel like doing.  Abandon your normal routine, get quiet, and notice what your natural impulses are.

  3. If you make this a screen-free day you will notice your natural instincts and desires kicking in when you phone is not the boss of you.

We loved our unstructured day so much that we will be planning one every month.  It’s wonderful to see it in the calendar for September as something to look forward to rather than grinding it out until October when we’ll be taking a full week off.  It’s nice to interrupt the pattern of overworking for months and trying to fit all our rest into 1-week increments.

If you’d like to plan your own day of rest and don’t know where to start, contact me and I can give you some ideas.  I’d love to support you!  Labor Day is just around the corner after all…

Much Love,
Christina

p.s. Speaking of Labor Day Weekend, on Sunday September 6 from 4 – 5 PT, the National African American Reparations Commission and the Fund for Reparations NOW!  are partnering to host a unique digital forum: Black Labor & White Wealth: A Conversation on Reparations with the National African American Reparations Commission.  You can register here.  Join me there?

P.S. If you’ve read this far, thank you! I invite you to join my mailing list for occasional musings and updates on retreats and events. I won't spam you, or share your data. Let's start supporting small businesses on platforms they own!
